Lenovo Legion R9000P Debuts with TCL CSOT’s Inkjet-Printed OLED Display
Lenovo has unveiled the Legion R9000P, the world’s first laptop to feature an Inkjet-printed OLED (IJP OLED) display developed by TCL CSOT, a subsidiary of TCL Technology and a leader in advanced display solutions. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the commercialization of IJP OLED technology, setting a new standard for laptop displays.
Advancing Laptop Display Quality with IJP OLED Technology
The Lenovo Legion R9000P is equipped with a 16-inch IJP OLED screen that delivers a premium visual experience. The display supports an ultra-high 240 Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth rendering of fast-moving visuals—ideal for gaming, creative work, and multimedia consumption. Utilizing a Real RGB Stripe side-by-side subpixel arrangement, the screen overcomes common issues found in traditional OLED panels, such as text blurring and color fringing, resulting in sharper text and clearer images.
Color accuracy is another highlight, with the display covering over 99% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. This ensures vibrant, true-to-life colors that remain consistent across all brightness levels, making the Legion R9000P suitable for professional design, video editing, and immersive entertainment.
Transforming Display Manufacturing with Inkjet-Printed OLED
Inkjet-printed OLED represents a next-generation approach to display manufacturing. Unlike traditional vacuum thermal evaporation (VTE) methods, IJP OLED uses an inkjet printing process to deposit organic light-emitting materials, eliminating the need for costly equipment and high-precision fine metal masks. This innovation streamlines production, enhances efficiency, and reduces manufacturing costs, while maintaining the core benefits of OLED technology—high contrast ratios and exceptional color performance.
The adaptability of IJP OLED technology enables its application across a wide range of devices, paving the way for broader commercialization in the display industry. TCL CSOT’s decade-long investment in IJP OLED research and development has led to significant breakthroughs, including the launch of its 5.5-generation IJP OLED production line (t12) in Wuhan, which began mass production in November 2024. The company has since announced the construction of the world’s first 8.6-generation IJP OLED production line (t8), marking a historic advancement for large-scale OLED manufacturing.
Setting New Industry Benchmarks
From medical displays to consumer laptops, TCL CSOT’s IJP OLED technology is redefining industry standards. The company continues to refine its manufacturing processes, aiming to improve production yields and expand its product offerings across various sizes and applications. By delivering cost-effective, high-performance, and environmentally friendly display solutions, TCL CSOT is collaborating with industry partners to drive technological innovation and promote sustainable growth within the global display sector.
